Job Description

The Compounder will develop and/or improve materials, processes, and formulations for compounds used in product applications with particular consideration for performance, quality, processability, cost and new product development.

This position will be based in Mount Pleasant, Iowa and will require occasional travel to other manufacturing locations worldwide.

Principal duties & responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise in the areas of material selection, experimental techniques, manufacturing processes, material properties, and government regulations.

Create, direct, and coordinate the development, design, and implementation of new processes for new or existing products.

Provide technical support to customers, manufacturing and the commercial organization.

Provide technical support in locating and eliminating sources of manufacturing variation and waste and working on design improvements using the Continental Business System (Lean).

Other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Bachelors or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or related field.

Minimum 2 Years technical experience formulating rubber compounds based on a wide range of elastomers, fillers, cure systems and reinforcements.

Analytical in nature, with experience as a multidisciplinary collaborative solution seeker.

Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean, Designed Experiments and systematic problem solving techniques

Good interpersonal skills and ability to progress simultaneously on multiple projects and remotely, all in global market place.

Willingness and ability to travel both domestically & internationally.

Willingness and ability to do hands on work when required.

Preferred:
5 - 10 Years technical experience formulating rubber compounds based on a wide range of elastomers, fillers, cure systems and reinforcements.

Industrial processing experience with rubber materials (mixing, extrusion, curing).
