Hours: 7:00 am - 7:00pm or 7:00pm - 7:00am based upon need of department. Every attempt made to limit shift rotation
This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care to antepartum, labor, postpartum and newborn patients/families using the nursing process. Directs patient/family education and delegates to ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards. Provides care to patients in the Medical and Surgical Area as assigned.
1. Graduate of a program in professional nursing
2. Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa
3. Completes Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) within 12 months of hire and maintains current status.
Previous experience in an acute care setting preferred
Previous perinatal experience preferred
Special Skills and Competencies:
Experience with computer software and willingness to learn new software (Excel, Microsoft, Cerner Community Works, WorkDay, etc.)
Ability to work flexible hours and participates in OB on-call schedule.
Must be able to respond within 30 minutes.
Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
